Twitter is a great marketing tool that you can use to help promote yourself, your business or your brand, and Twitter is also an excellent and fun way for you to engage with your customers online…and it’s free!

Are you and your business getting the most out of Twitter?

If not, read on to discover our five simple tips to help you deliver better tweets to your Twitter audience.

  1. Tweet during optimal times

There are certain times of day and particular days of the week when people are more active on Twitter, increasing the likeliness of engagement. By researching and identifying the specific times people are more active on Twitter, you can schedule posts during these times to boost chances of engagement.

Your peak posting times will really depend on your target audience, so run tests to determine how your content performs at different times of the day and days of the week to find out what works best for you and your business.

Once you have identified the best times, use scheduling tools like Hootsuite or Buffer to plan and schedule your posts in advance.

  1. Use the right hashtags

It’s important that you only use hashtags that are relevant to your Tweets and ensure that you don’t overuse them. A good rule of thumb is a maximum of three hashtags per Tweet.

You can also use a handy tool like Hashtagify to identify the best hashtags that are relevant to your Tweets, which also tells you the strength and popularity of your hashtags before you use them, so you’ll know which ones will have the best reach.

  1. Don’t always include links in your Tweets

When creating content to post out you may want to refer to an external site, maybe with more information or even referring to an article of some sort but it’s important that you try to keep linking to external sites to a minimum, and by doing this, you’ll add value to the links that you do post.

  1. Use images in your Tweets

Everyone knows that tweets with images stand out, so if you’re tweeting about a recent blog post, add an image to capture your audience’s attention, but make sure only to add compelling images that are relevant and high-quality.

There are a variety of free to use sites out there that you can use to find the right images to use in your Tweets.

  1. Use lists

Twitter lists will help you see a stream of content from your favourite brands, leaders, social media marketers or leaders. Having all this content all at once and all in one place will save you so much time as you won’t need to scroll through your feed to find posts you can instantly engage with. This is also great for your audience as people in your lists will be producing valuable content that your followers are more likely to retweet (that’s if you had your audience in mind when creating your list).
