Today, we’re introducing the founder and director of Square Media, Matt!

Matt started the business from his bedroom back in 2013 and has worked hard over the last 8 years to build it into the leading agency that it is today.

We spoke to Matt, and he said “Having started Square Media in the cupboard under my stairs (Cliché I know) back in 2013, the role I have played in the business throughout its growth has always and continues to change. These days, my role is to provide direction, ensuring we are maximising the success of our client’s marketing campaigns and championing my staff.

Here at Square Media, we employ a diverse range of individuals; with every single staff member encouraged to add their stamp to the business. The culture we try to foster in the business is that of inclusion and creativity; where every staff member is given the tools and self-confidence to come forwards with new ideas. That’s why on every staff members first day, they all still receive their own custom Avatar; their personality and interests become part of our brand.

Whilst the day to day might find me dabbling with spreadsheets, or chairing meetings, I love nothing more than rolling my sleeves up and passing on my knowledge and experience to the next generation of marketers. As a young person (just) myself, I have worn almost all the ‘hats’ in the business along the way, and I’m proud of the team and vision we have jointly created.

Square Media is a team – Not just a business.”

We asked Matt if he could time travel where would you go? Mat said “If I could time travel, I would go back to when I was 6 or 7. I grew up in Singapore and growing up in such a place leaves an impact on somebody. I still to this day have a burning desire to travel and see the world, and I believe that stems from the wide-ranging cultural influences I had as a child. Plus, Singaporean food is incredible!”

We asked Matt which superhero is his favourite? He said “I’d have to say my favourite Superhero is Spider-Man. Not least because my boys absolutely love Spider-Man, so they would kill me if I said anything different… but genuinely because Peter Parker is an un-suspecting ‘nobody’ who finds himself in a situation with a lot of responsibility and chooses to use it to better other people’s lives. Cliché I know, but It’s quite an inspiring story when you think about it.”
